Church Mobilization

The Church: An Engine of Transformation

World Relief is distinguished from other relief and development organizations by our direct partnership with local churches, both in the United States and throughout the world. We believe that something wholly unique and special happens when the Church unites to stand with the vulnerable — offering its talents, resources and time to the transforming work God is doing throughout the world. For over 70 years, World Relief has been equipping local churches around the world to walk alongside hurting people.

Mobilizing Congregations

We recognize that partnership is a process and must be beneficial for both the church and for World Relief. In Sacramento, churches join World Relief by sharing their skills, abilities, and resources to welcome and integrate refugees into our community.

This year World Relief Sacramento will resettle over one-thousand refugees from Afghanistan, Ukraine, Russia, and now Syria. Our desire is to create opportunities for local congregations to lovingly serve refugees. We hope that churches will experiences the joy of blessing and being blessed by our newest refugee neighbors.

Good Neighbor Teams

A Good Neighbor Team (GNT) is a group of 5 to 10 people from a local church or community group that partners with World Relief Sacramento (WRS) to welcome and walk alongside a newly arrived refugee family for a 6 month commitment. A GNT is partnered with an individual newcomer or newcomer family and works to assist WRS staff with various aspects of the resettlement process. A GNT’s primary role is to create loving, lasting, life-long, mutually enriching relationships with their partnered newcomers by visiting them at least once every week. Our goal is for each refugee that arrives to the Sacramento area to feel the warm welcome of the local church and community. To learn more, CLICK HERE.
