Community Orientation and Resources

This page exists to give volunteers a general overview of not only some of the challenges a refugee family may face when they arrive but also resources to help meet the immediate need while working toward self sufficiency.

Within 30 days of arrival, all families should have attended a Cultural Orientation Class at which point they would have received a large packet full of community resources. Many of those resources are included and linked here in the toolkit. However, we encourage families to reference their packet and familiarize themselves with the resources and services available to them.  This is a great opportunity for volunteers to spend some time going through the packet, answering questions and identifying relevant resources for the family they are with.
