Front Desk Admin

Put your organizational and customer service skills to use and help with crucial receptionist and administrative duties that keep the World Relief office running smoothly.



  • Minimum 2 - 4 hours per week Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm.

  • Minimum 3 month commitment.



  • Function in primary reception role for clients, volunteers, donors, community partners and other office visitors.

  • Ensure front desk is staffed during assigned weekly hours.

  • Maintain a clean, welcoming and informative environment in the office reception area.

  • Assist visitors by fielding general questions, providing basic assistance and redirecting them to appropriate staff when needed.

  • Screen incoming calls and messages, reply to messages as requested.

  • Manage the phone system, including updates for the general message.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of staff schedules and contact information.

  • Assist staff with administrative tasks as needed.



  • A desire to serve refugees and immigrants in support of the mission of World Relief.

  • Friendly, professional and enjoy helping others.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

  • Ability to communicate the work and mission of World Relief to visitors.

  • Organized, punctual and familiar with basic office programs and systems.

  • Must exercise high degree of patience, understanding, flexibility and self-awareness.

  • Record and report monthly volunteer hours served via Track-It-Forward. 



  • The first step in becoming a volunteer with World Relief Sacramento is to submit a volunteer application. 

  • Once you submit an application, a World Relief representative will contact you with information to register for a required 4-hour Volunteer Training held once a month. This training is meant to give you an introduction into refugee resettlement as well as introduce our guiding volunteer principles.

  • After attending, all volunteers must discuss final placement with a Volunteer Coordinator and complete a background check in addition to clearing two references.
