Volunteers can access the Track-It-Forward volunteer portal to sign up for any of the scheduled needs. Once signed up, the volunteer will receive detailed information necessary to complete the transportation appointment, which typically occurrs Monday through Friday between 7am and 4pm. These opportunities may include but are not limited to: grocery shopping, medical appointments, public school enrollments, job interviews, job readiness classes and additional transportation needs.


Time Commitment

  • Appointments occur only on weekdays, typically Monday through Friday between 7am and 4pm.

  • Time varies depending on type of appointment, but it is typically between 1 - 5 hours.

  • A refugee's home is typically located in the Arden Arcade, North Highlands, Carmichael, Rancho Cordova, or South Sacramento area.

  • Appointment location depends on appointment type, such as school enrollment, health appointment, or job interview. However, it is generally located within 10 miles of apartment.


  • Must exercise high degree of patience, understanding, flexibility, and self-awareness.

  • Record and report monthly volunteer hours served via Track-It-Forward.

  • The first step in becoming a volunteer with World Relief Sacramento is to submit a volunteer application. 

  • Once you submit an application, a World Relief representative will contact you with information to register for a required 4-hour Volunteer Orientation held once a month. This orientation is meant to give you an introduction into refugee resettlement as well as introduce our guiding volunteer principles.

  • After attending, all volunteers must discuss final placement with a Volunteer Coordinator, submit a liability waiver, complete a background and motor vehicle records check, watch our Prevention of Sexual Abuse webinar, in addition to clearing two references.
