Roadrunner Volunteers consist of: Airport Pick Ups, Daytime Roadrunners, Womens Health Roadrunners and additional transportation needs. 

Roadrunners First Step: 

  • The first step in becoming a volunteer with World Relief Sacramento is to submit a volunteer application. Please note, if you would like to form a Good Neighbor Team, please complete the application on the Good Neighbor Team page.  

  • Once you submit an applciation, you will be prompted to register for a required 4-hour Volunteer Training. This training is meant to give you an introduction into refugee resettlement as well as introduce our guiding volunteer principles: cultural and religious sensitivity, empowerment principles and self-awareness. 

  • After attending, all volunteers must discuss final placement with our Volunteer Associate and complete a background check.

Daytime Roadrunners Purpose: Transport refugee(s) to appointments and enroll in eligible services, often assisted by World Relief staff


  • Volunteers may select any weekday to serve for a minimum of 3 months.

  • Volunteers pick up refugee(s) from their apartments located in the Arden/North Highlands, South Sacramento, Rancho Cordova area.

  • Location depends on appointment type, such as Department of Human Assistance, Social Security, school enrollment, and health clinic but is generally located within 10 miles of apartment.

  • Arrive on time to apartment and help install car seats, if needed.

  • Check for needed documentation before leaving and drive safely.

  • Sign in, assist with completing paperwork (optional) and advocate for refugee(s).

  • Communicate consistently with Transportation Volunteer Coordinator.


  • High degree of patience, understanding, flexibility and self-awareness.

  • Complete a volunteer application. With the exception of the Good Neighbor Team Application, all applications are the same. 

  • Attend a Volunteer Training and pass background check including a driving record check.

  • Record and report monthly volunteer hours served via Track - It - Forward.
